FRAGMENTS OF US
COLLECTING EXHIBITION VISITORS' HAIR SAMPLES FOR DEMOGRAPHICS

About the project
Fragments of Us was presented at 200CENT Gallery, Barcelona, as part of my art exhibition Hairitage – An Exhibition on Hair & Identity. Envisioned and designed by me, Fragments of Us invited visitors to contribute a strand of their hair to a live installation, creating a collective portrait of the exhibition’s audience. A simple table equipped with scissors and labelled containers for different hair types transformed into a site of participation and reflection. As guests added their samples, they became part of a growing archive of hair demographics—turning personal fragments into shared data and visual storytelling.
This work reflects my curatorial methodology: designing exhibitions that are highly participatory and immersive, challenging traditional formats through interaction, symbolism, and collective authorship. By blending storytelling, interactivity, and data visualisation, the piece encouraged visitors to reflect on identity, diversity, and belonging—while literally leaving a part of themselves in the exhibition space.
