About the project
Queer Sphere explored gender as a cultural, personal, artistic, and social construct.
Through contemporary art, expert talks, film, workshops, performance, and collective dialogue, the project invited audiences to explore the many ways gender is experienced, expressed, and understood.
WHO ARE WE BENEATH THE LABELS WE INHERIT?
Gender is one of the first ways society learns to define us—but it is only one part of who we are.
Our identities are shaped by culture, family, relationships, lived experiences, and the meanings we attach to our bodies. Some of these labels feel empowering, while others invite us to question, reshape, or move beyond them.
Rather than offering answers, Queer Sphere invited visitors to explore these questions through artistic, educational, and experiential perspectives, creating space for dialogue, reflection, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and one another.
VISITORS MOVED BETWEEN REFLECTION, LEARNING, CONVERSATION, ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, AND CELEBRATION.
Queer Sphere was conceived as a Multi-Lens Experience™, bringing together artists, educators, performers, and community members to explore gender from multiple ways of knowing.
The experience combined a group exhibition, an educational lecture, a participatory drag workshop, a film screening, and live performances into one shared journey. Each programme element expanded the central question from a different perspective, allowing visitors to move between reflection, learning, conversation, artistic expression, and celebration.
PARTICIPATION BECAME A WAY OF EXPLORING OUR OWN IDENTITIES RATHER THAN SIMPLY OBSERVING THEM.
Throughout QueerSphere, audiences first encountered different perspectives on gender through art, film, expert knowledge, and conversation. Participation then shifted the experience inward: from learning about gender to experimenting with how we experience and express it ourselves.
Embodiment Workshop

Participants explored gender through their own bodies, gestures, appearance, and performance.
After a day of encountering different perspectives on gender, the workshop created a playful space to put those ideas into practice—experimenting with expression, trying on different possibilities, and experiencing identity as something that can also be explored through embodiment.
Participatory Performance
Drag the Dance Floor
The experience culminated on the dance floor, where workshop participants were invited to bring what they had explored into a collective lip-sync performance alongside Max Kink and DJs SP.ICE and Nartek.
What began as private experimentation became public expression: a moment to inhabit, perform, and celebrate whatever they discovered about themselves during the experience.

Just A Body – Underneath, There I Am
A multidisciplinary group exhibition bringing together photography, illustration, poetry, and moving image exploring gender, identity, and self-expression.
What Is Gender?
An educational presentation by Jaï Bristow (Beyond Boxes) introducing key concepts around gender, identity, and inclusion while creating space for dialogue and audience questions.
Let's Drag
A participatory drag workshop led by Max Kink, inviting participants to experiment with gender expression through performance, embodiment, and play.
Film Screening
A screening from The Gender Project, expanding the exhibition through documentary storytelling and lived experience.
Drag Performance & DJ Closing
The experience concluded with a collective lip-sync performance alongside DJs SP.ICE and DJ Nartek, transforming learning into celebration and community gathering.
BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE
QueerSphere explored one central question through artistic practice, expert knowledge, film, performance, and embodied participation, demonstrating how exhibitions can become spaces for learning as much as viewing.
