ARTIST ALLY NAVIGATOR

The Artist Ally Navigator is a self-assessment and orientation system designed by XAV to help artists understand where they are, what they currently need, and what step could move them forward.

The digital Navigator guides artists through a series of questions before directing them towards one of four pathways: Explorer, for ecosystem orientation; Builder, for structure and action; Seeker, for visibility and connection; or Reframer, for reflection and clarity.

Each result leads to a dedicated digital guide containing an exercise designed specifically for that moment in an artist’s journey—turning self-assessment into practical action.

The system was later translated into a physical participatory experience, where participants identified their pathway, moved to a corresponding station, completed an action, and connected two physical puzzle pieces representing their current position and next step.

Across both formats, the Navigator rejects the idea of a single correct creative path. Instead, it creates different forms of support for different artists at different moments.
