TURNING AUDIENCE CONTRIBUTIONS INTO A LIVE DIGITAL ARTWORK
About the Interface
The Collective Live Visuals Artwork was developed for Mixing Realities, an immersive art experience created with visual artist and VJ Erik López / IMGN around perception and the subjective nature of reality.
Rather than presenting a finished performance, the experience made Erik dependent on the audience for the material he would use to create it.
Participants contributed drawings, sentences, feelings, images, videos, and memories while also influencing the emotional atmosphere of the room.
Erik responded intuitively to this material through his Digital Expressionism practice, processing the contributions into a live audiovisual artwork.
The resulting piece existed only through the encounter between artist and audience: individual realities becoming raw material for a new shared reality.
The interface shifted authorship from artist to artist-and-audience, making participation fundamental to what could ultimately be created.
